Japan Display rolls out next-gen displays for phones, tablets, in-car

When the genius of Sony, Toshiba and Hitachi work under one roof there is bound to be more thinking and ideas. The collaboration of the three is now called Japan Technologies. The group has recently rolled out ?Innovation Vehicles?, thus paving the way for a future full of exciting display technologies. Among the three displays is a 5-inch Full HD displays with a pixel density of 438ppi. This seems ideal for every growing smartphones and probable slates. Next is a 7-inch WQXGA display that shows off resolutions of up to 2560 x 1600 pixels at 431ppi. Tablet PCs could do with such high-detail screens, given the competitive shoulder-barging in the display space. Closing the line is a 12.2-inch display with resolution of up to 1920 x 720 pixels. This seems perfect for in-car entertainment systems and navigation.

All displays show off WhiteMagic power saving, Pixel Eyes touch panels and IPS-NEO for wide angle viewing and higher contrast. In closing, we?d like to drop another teaser. That 5-inch smartphone display we were talking about is just 0.96mm thin. The borders measure just 1 mm. Delicious!
