Cowboys, cowgirls kick it up at Exeter rodeo | Bullet News ...

Bullet News EXETER ? Bull riding, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, pole bending, steer wrestling and other events that test the strength and agility of cowboys, cowgirls and livestock were all part of the 16th Annual Ram Rodeo in Exeter today.

The rodeo went off-script in sports where the unexpected is more than likely to happen. The lineup was shuffled when one of the broncs reared in the pen and became entangled in the gate. A pole rider was disqualified when her horse refused to enter the arena. And work of local ropers Jesse Kinsman and Jon Merner was disqualified because the role didn?t land clean around the animal?s head.

Today?s show was dedicated to Melanie McCann, an Olympic athlete who will compete in the modern pentathlon tomorrow. McCann was born in Clinton and attended high school in Exeter.

Tomorrow?s rodeo begins at 2 p.m. at the South Huron Recreation Centre Rodeo Arena. Tickets are available at the gate: Adults ? $20.00; Youth ? $15; and Kids (5 years and Under) $5.
